As a business owner, having a reliable phone carrier that can meet all your communication needs is crucial. A few months ago, I was traveling abroad to the US and couldn’t use my home phone carrier to stay online while traveling. I was looking for a prepaid carrier to accommodate my needs while in the US. I looked at several pages. T-Mobile was my first pick, but I needed more to complete the job. That’s until I discovered Mint Mobile – a prepaid carrier that has saved my business. Literally! Get all the details in this blog post.

What is Mint Mobile?

Mint Mobile is a customer-centric phone carrier that solely operates online and offers flexible prepaid phone plans with high-speed data access, unlimited talk and text, and unlimited international calls. It does sound too good for it to be true. Well, I’ll explain it to you.

If you are a small business owner (and digital nomad) looking for an affordable communication solution, Mint Mobile might be the perfect carrier to help your business grow. In this Mint Mobile Review post, I will share my experience, explore Mint Mobile’s features, and discuss the benefits of using Mint Mobile for business purposes.

The Story: Travelling Abroad

I’m based in Europe, and whenever I travel to any European country, I can use my phone plan the same way I use it at home—no roaming or getting a unique plan. But, when I go to the US or Canada – that’s a different story. I depend on free Wi-Fi at the airport or in my hotel room. In today’s age, that is stressful. Mainly because I need to reply to emails, Fiverr and Upwork messages, write proposals, etc. Interestingly, I get the most significant number of messages and requests when traveling and have limited service (the universe is playing with me).

At the beginning of the year, I traveled to the US, Dallas, TX, to be precise. I wanted to stay connected, and I wanted to use my phone like I usually do. I knew before that US carriers do not have good plans for internationals. It’s either too expensive, or you don’t get enough data. And I needed my GBs. ASAP. And let’s remember that some phones cannot work with some carriers. Luckily, I have an iPhone. But, once, I had a Lenovo phone (yes, Lenovo phones do exist), and it didn’t work with some SIM cards.

I researched my options, and I stumbled upon Mint Mobile. The best thing I liked about Mint is having an eSim card. I checked my unlocked phone’s eSIM compatibility on the website and immediately accepted the offer. This digital SIM card can be installed through an app instead of having a physical SIM card. The technology has many benefits, such as instant activation, two lines of one phone (I can switch between two lines), and you are going green (no plastic involved).

I was so happy I got Mint. I was able to stay online all the time while I was in the US. My business was not suffering. I was able to respond to clients questions in a timely matter. When you are freelancing and using Fiverr and Upwork, clients leave if you don’t respond immediately. Now I was able to manage everything.

Mint Mobile: Plans

Mint offers 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month plans. All plans have four options when it comes to data: 5GB, 15GB, 20GB, and unlimited. You get high-speed data, unlimited talk and text, and nationwide coverage (talking about the US only). I took a 15GB plan because I knew 5GB would not satisfy my needs. I could normally use all my apps (including Instagram, which is not for business), and I only used some of my data.

Currently, Mint Mobile is running a promotion. All 3-month plans have gone $15/month. Basically, you are agreeing to use Mint Mobile for three months. Total: $45 for three months of service. Once the three months are up, you can renew with a 3, 6, or 12-month plan to keep the savings going. Compared to T-Mobile prepaid plans that start at $40/month, Mint has a very good offer. Tello is limited with data, and Mint has unlimited option.

Mint Mobile Review: Pros and Cons

PROS +CONS
Unlimited Data, Talk and TextNo one month payment plan
Affordable PricesMobile hotspot is limited to 10GB
for Unlimited Plans
Instant Activation: eSIM
Free Calling to
Mexico & Canada
High Speed Data

Firstly, I was impressed by Mint Mobile’s affordability and flexibility. Mint Mobile offers four prepaid plans, with affordable pricing. These plans range from 3GB of high-speed data to unlimited data, with unlimited talk and text. This flexibility allowed me to choose a plan that precisely meets my business’s communication needs and doesn’t break the bank.

Secondly, I was delighted by Mint Mobile’s intuitive online platform and service. The registration process was straightforward, and the platform walks you through the process by providing easy-to-follow instructions (with videos). Especially, what I love is the option to use digital SIM card instead of buying a physical card.

Thirdly, I was impressed by the speeds and coverage that Mint Mobile provides. Mint operates on the T-Mobile 5G network which means translates to good coverage. With Mint Mobile, I had no trouble using my phone for data-heavy activities like uploading large files, conducting Zoom calls with my clients, and browsing the internet on the go.

When it comes to cons, I don’t like that there is not month to month payment option. You are now stuck with a three month plan if you want to get the lowest rate. For me, one month would be sufficient since I’m traveling a lot and I cannot commit to three months.

Another con is the 10GB limited mobile hotspot for unlimited plan. So if you want to connect your laptop to hotspot, you can only spend 10GB. If you are running a business, that is not enough data.

Conclusion: Mint Mobile Review

Overall, Mint offers one of the best prepaid options. It has affordable plans with good features. Having an eSIM card that you can activate through Mint app makes things even easier. Mint Mobile has changed my business’s communication experience for the better, providing me with the flexibility, affordability, coverage, and speed I needed. If you are a small business owner, I highly recommend trying Mint Mobile’s prepaid plans, as they provide excellent value for your money and are a great communication solution. Thank you, Mint Mobile, for saving my business!
