Midjourney is my new favorite AI tool. It lets me create amazing graphics, designs, and images. Some of the designs are so good that I was able to sell it on RedBubble and Etsy. If you haven’t tried Midjourney yet, now it’s the time. You can read our Midjourney guide on how to start generating art. Or, if you need some business inspiration then read our blog post on how to start a business with Midjourney. Midjourney settings gives you plenty of options and you can easily switch between versions. The latest v5.1 definitely brings a lot of changes. In this blog post, I will show you differences between Midjourney versions.
How to switch between Midjourney versions?
You can easily switch between Midjourney versions by typing in /settings and then hitting enter into Discord message bar.
Midjourney bot will respond with settings message and then you can switch between versions, adjust the quality, adjust style, change mode (public or stealth). Just click on what you want to change and Midjourney will automatically make those changes. Next time you write the prompt Midjourney will work under those settings you set up.
Midrjourney Version Comparison
I will start with a simple prompt. I want to create a logo showing a tiger mascot. The prompt for all images and versions is the same: /imagine a mascot logo of a tiger, simple, vector
Version 3
Here is the result of version 3 for the prompt:
You see that the logo is not very good. You can barely recognize the animal on the photo and the logo is very simple. Colors are pale and the logo is not showing much.
Version 4
Let’s the the results when we switch to version 4:
Compared to version 3, you see a lot of improvements. Tiger looks realistic and colors are vibrant. However, the images are still simple. Other versions will give us better results.
Version 5
Let see what Midjourney v5 has to offer:
It’s a big upgrade from version 4. Between each photo there is a variation in color; we also got different shades of orange. The size and shape of tiger’s head also varies between photos.
Version 5.1
The latest Midjourney version is v5.1. Let’s compare the outputs:
The colors are definitely more vibrant. The images look like they are glowing. Some of the variations look like NBA team logos.
I asked Midjourney to do another round of variations, and these are the results:
Now we have something different. Instead of a black background, we have white and blue background. These images can really be used as a logo.
Midjourney also has other options and styles. You can check out how to work with Niji Mode.
