If you have been using Midjourney for a while, you know that you can switch between different settings and styles. Midjourney Niji is the anime-focused variant of Midjourney. In Midjourney, there is a Niji model and a Niji Journey Discord server with its own bot. It’s the same anime styles generator, anime specific, but the only difference is that you access it differently.
Niji Mode vs Niji Journey – What’s the difference?
There is no big difference between Niji Mode and Niji Journey – the only difference is how you access it. If you are serious about using Midjourney anime, then Niji Journey seems like a better options.
You can use Niji Mode by adjusting your settings in Midjourney. Type /settings and press enter, and then choose Niji Model 5 or Niji Model 4 in the dropdown menu.
Or, you can add ”–niji” to your prompt when you message the Midjourney bot. However, if you want to constantly create anime, then it is easier to change the settings.
On the other hand, you can access Niji Journey through Niji Discord server. Basically, you will get the same results as using Niji movdel V5 in Midjourney general Discord. Niji Journey is dedicated Discord server to Niji style and model only.
The official Niji Journey description is the following: “a state-of-the-art AI that draws custom anime illustrations, just for you!”
Niji Journey Discord – How to Use?
Here is the invitation link to join Niji Discord.
Once you join, you will have to choose between 4 language. I picked English. This Discord looks the same as any other server. Also, it works the same as Midjourney Discord.
Go to any of the numbered image-generation channels. You can pick between image-generation, image-generation 2, etc. Those are the general, public, channels where you can generate images.
Then, type /imagine, click the bar that appears above chat, and type your prompt. My prompt was the following: boy and girl, vibrant colors, fun, love
The bot will generate a grid of 4 cute images in around 60 seconds. The U buttons upscale an image, and the V buttons create a variation of the image. I’ve upscaled the second image.
Niji journey and Midjourney have one subscription, so no need to subscribe again if you have a Paid plan with Midjourney.
Having a paid plan lets you add Niji Journey Bot to your own server.
On the right side, find Niji Journey Bot name and click on Add to Server.
You can now chat directly with Niji Journey Bot and all your creations will be in one place.
Midjourney Bot and –Niji prompts
If you don’t want to join a different Discord server, then use Niji mode in Midjourney Discord. Midjourney anime prompts will be the same, but you will have to either change the settings, or write –niji at the end of each prompt.
Type in /settings and pick Niji Model v5 or Niji Model v4.
Then I will use the following description for the prompt: boy and girl, going to school, fun, many colors –niji 5. You will see that –niji 5 was added automatically to my prompt since I changed the settings.
How to use Midjourney niji prompt?
Let’s try to generate some images with this prompt. I’m using Midjourney General Discord.
I will use ”–niji” at the end of each prompt. I used the following: boy and girl, going to school, fun, many colors, –niji
You see that there is no big difference between using –niji in your prompts, or changing the settings. It all depends how often you want to generate anime style images. Changing the settings at the start with save you plenty of time.
