If you’re an online educator or course creator, you know how difficult it can be to come up with engaging content for your courses. Thankfully, there is a new technology called ChatGPT developed by Open AI that can help you create engaging content quickly and easily. Unless you have been living under a rock for the past two months, you know how this technology can speed up your work. Yes, itโs ok to use AI to generate content for you. ChatGPT for course creation is perfect because you don’t have to worry about Google algorithm and plagiarism.
In this guide, I’ll take a look at what ChatGPT is, how it works, and how you can use it to create amazing courses that you can sell later on Udemy or any other platform. Iโll also discuss OpenAI and chatGPT, the best practices for using ChatGPT, and some common pitfalls to avoid when using it. Finally, we’ll provide some tips for making the most of ChatGPT. So, let’s get started!
Why you should create an online course?
New year, new me โ at least, that is what everyone is doing. At the beginning of each year, people decide to start something completely new, and then they want to do what has been on their list for years โ such as course creation.
How do I know this? Well, Iโve been a successful freelancer on Fiverr, where I offer course creation services. January is my best month โ order after order, request after request. The same thing happened last year. Creating an online course can be fun, but most people donโt have time to do it. Thatโs why they hire me. This is the busiest time of the year for me.
What I see from these requests and messages is that people are experts in some topics, and they want to share that knowledge with others (and, of course, make some money from it). most importantly, once you put your time and effort into creating the entire course and post it on the course hosting platform, you get passive income. You get the exposure and students, and you can create the entire community around your course that can later serve as leverage to create more courses ($ cha ching, cha ching $).
Online courses are popular because people can learn from anywhere in the world, they learn at their own pace, and for them, itโs easier to comprehend video content than written content. That means you, as a course creator, have the audience. Almost any topic that you want to cover will find its audience. Letโs find out how you can speed up the process to create online course with ChatGPT.
What is ChatGPT?
If you’ve ever wanted to create a course quickly and easily, ChatGPT might be the perfect solution for you. ChatGPT is a technology developed by OpenAI, a research lab in San Francisco, and since its release in November 2022, it has brought many positive changes.
How does it work? It uses natural language processing and machine learning to generate engaging content for almost any industry, including online courses.
ChatGPT uses machine learning algorithms to understand the context of a user’s conversation and generate content tailored to the user’s needs. ChatGPT is trained on millions of conversations with real people, which allows it to generate realistic and engaging content.
Do you need a recipe for a delicious dinner? No problem; ChatGPT will generate ideas for you. Do you need a PHP code? No problem. Do you need a list of stocks to invest in because you missed the last bull run? ChatGPT will give me a list of stocks. Itโs faster than Google search, and it summarizes the most important data in seconds. Generic or specific โ ChatGPT will generate content for you related to that topic.
Benefits of using ChatGPT for course creation
Using chatGPT for course creation has many benefits. Itโs a chat, and whatever you ask ChatGPT, you will get an answer.
First, it can save you time and energy when creating courses, as it can generate content quickly and easily. Whether you are stuck in the ideation process and creating an outline, ChatGPT will get you out of that zone.
Second, it’s very accurate and can generate content tailored to the user’s needs. When you write a command for ChatGPT you can be very specific and ask it to generate content for either beginner or advanced users.
Finally, it can help you create engaging content that your users will find interesting and useful. Yes, you can ask ChatGPT to write in fun, engaging, or convincing tone. The more specific you are with your questions, the more specific and better content you will get. That way, you will have a unique course. Let’s do real estate investing and create online course with ChatGPT.
How to use ChatGPT for course creation?
Creating an online course with ChatGPT is relatively simple. All you need to do is create a conversation between a user (thatโs you) and the ChatGPT system. As you ask questions, the ChatGPT system will generate content related to those questions. You can then use this content to create a complete course for your students.
But, letโs use ChatGPT to create a course from scratch. I want to create a course on the topic of real estate investing, for example. The online course that Iโm making in this example is narrated presentation, which means that I will show slides and do screencasting and wonโt show up on camera.
I will need an outline, I will need the script, I will need bullet points for my slides, and I will need a title for my course. In this example, I will use real estate investing to create online course with ChatGPT.
I will give the following commands to ChatGPT:
Creating a course outline with ChatGPT
Creating an outline for your online course is the first step in the process. If you have a good idea of what you want to talk about in your course, then you can ask ChatGPT to create an outline.
My command to ChatGPT is the following for the outline: ‘Create an outline for an online course on real estate investing. The course will have ten chapters.โ
You see, ChatGPT broke down our outline into ten chapters, each having 2 to 4 lectures. It starts with the basics of understanding real estate investing and ends with more advanced topics of investing in real estate investment trusts or REITs.
Writing an engaging title for an online course
It’s time to write a title for our course and I will ask ChatGPT: “Please write an engaging title for this course that I will publish on Udemy.”
Our title is perfect for Udemy: “Mastering the Art of Real Estate Investing: A Comprehensive 10-Chapter Course”. Remember that you can always ask for more ideas from ChatGPT for your course title.
Use our Course Title Generator to generate online course title ideas based on your keywords:
Here is how it works:
- enter multiple keywords that are related to your course topic separated by commas (the more keywords you enter, more title ideas you will get)
- click on generate
- check the list and pick a title for your online course
Writing a script for your online course using ChatGPT
It’s time to generate a script for our online course on real estate investing. Your course will vary in duration, and your script length will also vary. You can expect to have around 12 000 words for a 90-minute course.
I asked ChatGPT to ”Write a 300 words script for the following: (I chose one chapter from the previous response)”.
Note: ChatGPT always refers to the previous answers it gave, so you can always ask it to refer to the chapter number from the outline it produced before.
I only generate one script for one lecture as an example. Later, you can generate a script for each item from your outline.
Writing a summary and a list for slide presentation
The script is here to accompany your slide deck presentation. You will read from the script once you start screen recording. But you also need to create slides for your presentation, and the information you put on your slides has to be short.
I will ask ChatGPT the following: ”Please shorten this script and write bullet points I can use in my slide deck.”
ChatGPT shortened our script and only placed the relevant information that needed to be on our slides. Never copy and paste entire sentences on your slides.
Creating slide presentation
Once you have the entire script and bullet points, you can use Canva to create your slides. You can sign up with Canva for free. Click here to start.
Then you can use graphics, add images, and anything you like to create your slides.
Once you have that it’s time to record your course. You will create a narrated presentation, and you would record your screen (your Canva slides) while you are reading your script that ChatGPT generated for you.
After you film your course, it’s time to publish your course on Udemy or other course hosting platform. I also recommend Forento.io. It’s the most affordable course hosting platform that has all the features you need and it’s easy to use. You can read full Forento review on our blog.

OpenAI and ChatGPT
OpenAI is a research laboratory in San Francisco that develops technologies to benefit humanity. They are best known for their work in artificial intelligence, but they also develop technologies such as chatGPT. OpenAI is an important partner in the development of chatGPT, and they are committed to ensuring that their technologies are used responsibly.
Since it went public on November 30th of 2022, ChatGPT has broken all the records. ChatGPT has crossed one million users within a week of its launch. And $1 billion was received by OpenAI from Microsoft. $200 million in revenue is expected by the OpenAI by the end of the year 2023.
How to get access to ChatGPT?
To start using ChatGPt, you just need to go to openai.com, and at the top, you will see an invitation to try ChatGPT.
Once you click on that, you are ready to sign up for an OpenAI account. You can do it for free. You just need to give your email and phone number, and you are good to go.
Sometimes you will see a message saying that chatGPT is at its capacity. That means you wonโt be able to register or log in to your account. Many people are using chatGPT at once, and the platform canโt process all of these requests. That is why you sometimes must wait before you can access it.
But there are some tricks that you can try:
- You can try logging in by using a different web browser, or you try incognito mode.
- You can clean your cookies and cache in your browser.
- You can try a VPN service that might help you log in faster. You can use NordVPN, the best and most reliable VPN service on the market. You can read the full NordVPN review on our blog.
Best practices to create online course with ChatGPT
When using ChatGPT for course creation, it’s important to follow best practices:
First, make sure that the conversations you are having with the ChatGPT system are focused and relevant to the topic of your course. This will help the chatGPT system generate more accurate and useful content. if you donโt like the answer or you are dissatisfied with the answer, try to ask different questions, or give a different command.
Second, don’t be afraid to ask the ChatGPT system questions. It’s designed to answer questions, so asking questions will help it generate better content. when it comes to your course creation process, try to ask questions hard questions and develop a more comprehensive script for your course.
Finally, take the time to review the content that ChatGPT generates before you use it in your course. This will ensure that the content is accurate and relevant to your course. Feel free to add personal experience to your course โ that will make your courses even more interesting and valuable to your students.
One thing to be careful about when using ChatGPT is to never share any sensitive information in your conversation (email address, phone number, physical address). Also, keep in mind that ChatGPT information is limited to 2021. You won’t get data on recent trends and data.
Common pitfalls when using ChatGPT
When using chatGPT for course creation, there are some common pitfalls to avoid. Don’t expect ChatGPT, or any other AI tools for content creation, to be a substitute for human creativity. It can generate content quickly and easily, but it can’t replace you as the content creator or the expertise that you have in a certain topic.
Also. don’t expect ChatGPT to be perfect. It can still make mistakes (even some simple math mistakes). Thatโs why you need to check every output that ChatGPT produces.
Finally, don’t expect ChatGPT to be able to generate content on any topic. It covers most of the topics – yes; but it can only generate content related to the topics it has been trained on.
